Labor Day Explorations

For Labor Day this year we did some exploring!  We started out in the Teton River just a half mile or so away from our house.  We rode our bikes to our favorite bank and the kiddos played in the water while Richard and I watched.  They got pretty wet but they got to see tons of tadpoles.  Jacob joined us and waded into the water with his flip flops on.  Joseph crossed the river (its very shallow), but he followed the bank down a little ways and then tried to cross back over where it is deeper and got stuck about waist deep in the water.  Jacob went to help him and one of his flip flops went slowly flowing down the river!  Joseph finally back tracked and came back the way he went.  We were discussing Jacob's missing sandal and Joseph said, "better to lose the flip flop than to lose me".  So true.  The kids had a great time playing.  We went home and decided to drive out to the Butte with Jacob.  We explored our favorite lot, drove around a bit, saw the elk herd and then went to a couple of parks on the Snake River.  We found a great spot and again the kids were drawn to the water!   Somewhere near the South Fork there is a bridge you can jump off of into the river, but although we looked, we did not find it this time. Maybe some other time! We did see people floating down the river on inner tubes and kayaks.  At this area the river bends back on itself so that you can get in, ride down the river a ways, get out and walk a small bit back to where you started.  Next time we will take tubes with us and stay longer! It was a great day with my sweet family!
