We don't usually get a tree until closer to Christmas, but this year we were checking out the local stands and their trees were skinny and short. And yes, I decided its ok to be snooty about my Christmas Tree! We went to a local nursery because we heard they had some big full trees and sure enough they did! Funny thing? They are from Oregon! A little piece of home in our home for the holidays!
We decided to take a tree home with us that day, the first of December. Then we could not find the Christmas Tree stand. Where oh where did it get put when we moved. Hmmmm. Did it get moved? Or was it one of the things we sacrificed when we left Oregon? Adrienne pulled our her cell phone and had taken a photo of all the things we left behind and sure enough, there was our green and red Christmas Tree stand! Oh sad day, it was such a nice big accommodating stand!! Richard went out and got us another smaller one and we decorated the tree! Yay!
The next day we headed of to church and when we got home we found THIS!!!
Oh sadness! Our tree had toppled while we were at church! There were broken ornaments all over the floor and water from the tree stand, it was Christmas Carnage at our house! So we cleaned up and Joseph was so relived to find that the special Christ ornament had survived! He was walking it carefully over to the table to set it down when he tripped and it broke into a bazillion little pieces. And then Joseph fell to pieces as well! I felt so sad for him because he truly felt horrible to have broken the special Jesus ornament. I posted this sad little incident on facebook and Evelyn Roberts, our dear friend and adoptive mother to our doggy Gidget, read the post and mailed an almost identical ornament she had to us! Joseph was so excited to get it and now he thinks that Gidget is magic because somehow she knew to send him a new ornament like the one he broke! The tree is back up now and the house is happily decorated and ready for Christmas to come!

That is a cute story. Something that I could have pictured my son Austin doing! What a nice friend.
