More Aquarium Fun

The rest of the aquarium was really fun too. Again, no fear! Love this sweetheart!

East Idaho Aquarium

While Adrienne and Melanie were here, we got to go to the aquarium with them. So much fun!! The birds were a huge highlight and Annalina may have a new obsession! Look at how brave my girls are, especially Melanie. She never even flinched! Had them eating out of her hand!

Winter Wonderful with Melanie and Adrienne

Annalina and I had the pleasure of going to the Ice Palace with Adrienne and Melanie. It was amazing. Definitely have to do that again! I always wondered if it was worth it. Totally is!!!

Till we meet again sweet boy!

Today I took one of our kittens, Sokka, to the vet and got the worst news. This sweet little guy had cancer and there was nothing that could be done to keep him here. Our sweet vet helped him go peacefully. We have lost too many and it is heartbreaking every single time. Each of our kitties hears from me often, "you are wanted, you are loved". But how many are out there who have never known kindness and love? Rescue is wonderful and rewarding and physically and emotionally exhausting. I am grateful for my daughter Annalina, who has taken on so much responsibility at the rescue. She loves the cats, and me, unconditionally.

Christmas Time Once Again

Well, we must use a trio of trees bolted onto wood as our Christmas tree. The cats wouldn't stay out of our full size tree in the past. They are so curious. We shall see how many ornaments are still on in the morning. I still need to find my snow blanket to cover the wood and cords. Half the lights aren't working and I'm feeling a little defeated about my ability to dress up my home. But it will have to do. Merry Christmas!

Annie Get Your Gun

Last night we went to see Annie Get Your Gun at the high school. Joseph was in the pit playing and it was fun! Here he is showing off his tee shirt, under his sweatshirt. He's really enjoyed the experience and will be doing it again next time. I love the happiness his cello playing provides him.

Our Pool

Due to covid, we had to make a reservation at the pool. Only 10 people allowed at a time. We had 6 and one more party of 4 was there for a third of the time. It was really nice having the place to ourselves for an hour and a half!

Sad Side of Fostering

I often post pictures of our sweet kitties. I love them all so dearly. People tell me I have the funnest non-paying job ever and a lot of the time it is. I don't share a lot of the heartache because it is so personal and no matter how hard I try, I always feel responsible when we lose one. Well, Annalina and I have been working especially hard with a new kitten. She took a very bad turn today. We followed all protocol, we hydrated her, fed her, loved her, and still she left so quickly. Another kitten in an almost identical situation came back from the brink a few days ago. Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason. But I find myself doubting my abilities. And I ache so badly tonight. This is the side of rescue that is not fun or cute or fluffy. Please, spay and neuter. If your cats go outside, deworm them regularly. Sickly kittens born to uncared for mothers are what we deal with all too often and we love them so much, but it is not fair to them. And it just plain hurts.

Mountains and Strings

When we found out Camp Kita was not happening this year, Joseph learned that his cello teacher's family camp, Mountains and Strings, was going forward the same week. So Monday, Annalina and I took him to Harriman State Park and left him there for the week. He had a blast! He learned so much, made some amazing new friends, and was happier than I've seen him in a while. We got to watch two performances this evening and he is such a great cellist. And the thing is, he absolutely loves playing! And I enjoy listening. Thanks to the talented Ferguson family, for creating a safe and happy place for these kids to learn, perform, and belong.

Camp Away From Camp

A huge thank you to Camp Kita for the "camp in a crate" they sent Joseph since Camp was canceled due to Covid. Not the same as camp, but a really cool way to remind the kids they are loved and remembered!

Along with tie dye kit, felt kits, t-shirt, hat, a heart stone, games, Frisbee, sunglasses, mushroom fact cards, water bottle, journal, flashlight, a yearbook full of pics, and more...he also got little notes from the camp staff. So sweet!!
